i just went to palomino within the past 6 months and everyone talked about how it used to be - this is incredible. Today Palomino and basically all of the northern coast line going further north east has eroded to the point that there is no longer a beach. Sad - hopefully something is done to reverse it.

Thanks for your review. My Spanish skills are very poor! When I lived in the Philippines for a couple of years it was quite easy to communicate in English, in the major cities at least, since they typically teach English in all the public schools and many ads and signs are in English or English and Tagalog. Even many radio/TV announcers frequently use English. From your experiences there in Cartagena, what percentage of the people there can speak reasonable English? 50% 10%? 5%? Are there areas in Colombia (Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cali, etc), where more of the Colombian people speak English than in other areas? I'm guessing not. I wonder if those electronic instant translators work very well! --Otherwise I need to brush up on Spanish before I visit! ;-)
